Linda Light Dulin, 68
Oct. 30, 1947 - Jan. 8, 2016 • Linda Light Dulin, age 68, passed quietly at home in Bellmead, Texas, on the morning of January 8, 2016. Funeral services were held January 16 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, followed by burial at Robinson Cemetery.
Linda was born and reared in Waco, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, the Universities of Cologne and Hamburg in Germany on a Rotary International Scholarship for study abroad, and received her Master’s Degree in Speech Communications and Acting from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She attended Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Institute outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, and the New York Film Academy and studied screenwriting under Hollywood screenwriting guru Syd Field and Screenwriting U’s Hal and Cheryl Croasmum.
Linda was a writer, actress, director, producer, and speaker, having worked in television, radio, and film. She was most well known in the Saddlebred business through her book, Passions and Prejudice: The Secrets of Spindletop, the rags to riches account of the life of Pansy Yount, and her highly acclaimed one-woman show, Pansy Yount of Spindletop, performed since 1988 before standing ovation audiences throughout the country. The first edition of the book was published in 1995, with a second expanded anniversary edition published in 1997 to mark the commemoration, for the first time in history, of the Second Spindletop Oil Gusher—the Yount Gusher—which was celebrated in Beaumont and Houston, Texas on the 72nd anniversary of the Second Spindletop Oil Gusher, November 13th, 1997. At that time, she organized a state-wide Texas celebration of the Second Spindletop Oil Gusher and brought her one-woman show to the Julie Rogers Theater in Beaumont, Texas, as well as the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show in Houston, Texas.
Linda worked on two films, Sylvester, and Martin Jurow’s Terms of Endearment, as well as Bluegrass, a made-for-TV miniseries, Alan Landsberg, producer. She also wrote a second book, A Work of Art: Better Bits of Saddlebred History: The Art Ledbetter Story.
Linda is survived by her husband, Paul E. Dulin of Robinson, Texas, and her three daughters and their families: Danielle Langenbruch, son-in-law Robert Hempel, Jr., and granddaughters Hannah and Aidan, all of Hartland, Michigan; Andrea Stendel, son-in-law, Gerald Stendel, and grandchildren Josiah and Sarah of Richmond, Kentucky; Christa Buckel and son-in-law Micah Buckel of Lexington, Kentucky; and her sister, Patrica Ann York of Watauga, Texas. Linda was preceded in death by her parents: Johnnie R. Brown and Pauline Alford Brown.
Linda loved animals, especially her 30 plus years old Saddlebred mare, Irish. Linda was a precious and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be forever loved and remembered.
