Joyce Preiser

Joyce Preiser, 85, left this earth on February 23, 2014, after courageously battling a series of medical problems that robbed her of her vivaciousness and ability to love life.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, at the early age of 15 Joyce began to entertain soldiers as a member of the USO, kindling a life-long love affair with the Arts. She married University of Louisville law student Stanley Preiser in 1948, and the two of them moved to Charleston, West Virginia, in 1951. Making their home in Charleston for the next 35 years, Joyce was a valued member of the theatre community and hospital volunteers. But her most important work was always her home and the rearing of her children and support of her husband – all of which she did in a manner of unusual excellence.

Joyce and Stanley moved full time to Boca Raton, FL, in the mid 1980’s, where Joyce became active in many Jewish charitable groups, and where she  supported over 30 charities a year. Joyce is survived by one sister (Carolyn Monfried Wolf of Louisville), 2 loving children (Terri and Monty Preiser of Boca Raton), her daughter -in-law (Sara Preiser), who Joyce loved like a daughter, 2 grandchildren (Blair Preiser Wolfson of Pittsburgh, PA and Justin Preiser of Napa, CA), and a new great grandson (Caden Samuel Preiser Wolfson of Pittsburgh).

Contributions in her memory may be made to the B’nai Jacob Synagogue in Charleston, WV. Services will be at the Gutterman-Warheit Chappel in Boca Raton Florida on February 26, 2014, at 1:00, followed by burial at the Eternal Light Cemetery near Boynton Beach.
