Janet Sterba, 64

 

 The Saddlebred community learned of the passing of longtime American Saddlebred owner and exhibitor Janet Sterba, 64, of Troy, Virginia on March 29th from cancer.

 

 Janet and CH CARAWAY’S NEW YORK MINUTE were the 2017 Amatuer Fine Harness National Champions. As a former Trustee of the American Saddlebred Museum and along with her trainers, Smith and Alexandra Lilly, was a fixture at many shows during the season. While bravely battling cancer in 2018, Janet turned the lines over to Mercer Springs barnmate and friend, Grace Arnold, who took CH CARAWAY’S NEW YORK MINUTE to the World’s Champion of Champions Amateur Fine Harness title.

 

 Sterba also enjoyed great show ring success with her pleasure horses, CH Callaway’s Born For This, CH Take It From The Top, CH My Stiletto and CH Shamanic Dream.

 

 Janet is survived by her husband, Jeff; son, Dane and daughter, Katy. Katy recently opened her own training operation, Famesgate Stables.
