Carl Meyers, 64
MEYERS Carl Lee, 64, passed away November 21st. Carl was a consummate retailer, a serious businessman and a big-hearted, very generous person. Carl represented the third generation of well-respected merchants in downtown Lexington. His Grandfather, Emanuel opened the first clothing store in 1920. Carl proudly carried on the Meyers family reputation as a purveyor of riding apparel and fine women's clothing. Like his parents Sydelle and Marvin, Carl had a terrific sense of style and taste. Carl cultivated his innate artistic talent at Boston University earning a degree in Fine Arts. He was quite an artist and painter, but fashion was his true passion. He simply knew how to dress people and make them look and feel good. In the 1970s he revolutionized much of the riding apparel business by turning basic riding habits into custom fashion statements. His fabulous eye for detail extended to his exquisite homes. Carl loved change-- he liked to move, create fabulous places and throw memorable parties. He made his mark on a number of homes in Lexington, New York and Florida which he generously shared with his good friends. Carl had a big laugh, a sarcastic wit and a brilliant mind. He will be missed by many. Carl was preceded in death by his brother Roy. He is survived by his niece Madison Meyers, her fianc‚, Kieran Norris and many loving cousins and friends. Donations in Carl's memory are suggested to Moveable Feast or the Lexington Humane Society. A graveside service will be held at The Lexington Cemetery on Tuesday, November 29 at 12pm.
